2 large bananas
1 pear (stem removed – seeds can be left in with high powered blender)
1/2 cup heaping with cut cantaloupe
4 kale leaves (stems removed)
2 scoops Mila in 2/3 cup water (mix together and set aside for at least 3 minutes before adding to smoothie)
2/3 cup chocolate milk of your choice (Almond, Carob, Soy)
2/3 cup rice milk
2/3 cup almond milk
2 cups frozen strawberries
2 cups frozen blueberries
Note: I’m using a 64 oz Vitamix – if your blender is smaller, you may have to reduce the quantities to fit your blender.
Place all ingredients in your Vitamix or other high powered blender and blend until creamy. I found that for optimal blending it’s best to start by adding all fresh ingredients, then the liquid ingredients, then the frozen ingredients. Pretty much every morning we enjoy a smoothie for breakfast. I vary the ingredients based on what’s in season and what we have on hand. This morning I just cut up a beautiful cantaloupe, so I figured that would be a nice addition. We’ve had figs around lately since they are in season, so they have been making their way into our smoothies as well. It’s always great to add greens to your smoothies, it’s a wonderful way to get added nutrition. In this recipe I used kale, often we use a big handful or two of spinach. Sometimes we add a tablespoon or two of raw almond butter if we’re looking for some added protein or flavor. Play with the recipe and make it your own! ENJOY!
